The Hon. Justice J.A. Coldrey


The Hon. John A. Coldrey QC is a retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Victoria, retiring in 2007.

He was Director of Public Prosecutions for Victoria from 1984-1991, and was appointed Q.C. in 1984.

From 1966 to 1981, he acted as defence counsel which included defending aboriginal accused in Northern Territory of Australia.

He was Director of Legal Services for the Central Land Council (Northern Territory) from 1982 to 1984. He chaired the Consultative Committee on Police Power of Investigation from 1985 to 1990. In 1975 and 1976, he was counsel assisting the Board of Inquiry into allegations against members of Victorian Police Force.
