Detective Fiona Wilson-Bates

Detective Fiona Wilson-Bates has been a member of the Vancouver Police Department since 1999, and is currently a detective in the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit.

Previously, she worked in as a Patrol officer in several areas, walked the beat in the Downtown Eastside, and worked in the Communications Centre. While in Patrol she was both a Crisis Negotiator and a Field Trainer for several years, had considerable experience as an Acting Sergeant, and also worked undercover assignments for the Vice Squad.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, as well as certificates from the Justice Institute of British Columbia and the Canadian Police College in Ottawa. She has been awarded two VPD commendations and the 2008 Communications Award from the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
