Advocate Anton du Plessis is an international law and criminal justice expert
with extensive experience working on rule of law, international crime and justice
development issues. Mr. du Plessis has three law degrees and has held senior
positions at the United Nations, South Africa's National Prosecuting Authority, and
the Institute for Security Studies (ISS). He is also a consultant and expert advisor to
various UN entities and other intergovernmental organisations. He is an admitted
advocate of the High Court of South Africa with more than 13 years of legal
experience. He is currently a senior manager at the Institute for Security Studies
(ISS) where he is head of the International Crime in Africa Programme (ICAP), a
programme he founded in early 2008. He has published numerous articles, book
chapters and training guides, and serves on numerous expert groups and editorial
boards. Adv. du Plessis has presented to several parliamentary committees, and is a
well-known commentator and analyst in local and international media.
